Terms & Conditions

The following terms and conditions represent the basis upon which training is offered by Chris Parker Driving School. The provision of training is subject to the acceptance of these terms and conditions:

1. Driving licences and fitness to drive:

You must hold a current, valid driving licence, provisional, full or international, and produce it on your first training session. You must be fit to drive with regard to legal and medical requirements.

2. Payments:

Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer (details supplied on request).

3. Cancellations:

If the pupil wishes to cancel/change a lesson:
Please give as much notice as possible – at least a minimum of 12 hours.
Failure to give the required notice will result in the full value of the cancelled lesson being charged. But to avoid cancellation charges students will be offered the opportunity to re-book their lesson within 5 days of the cancelled lesson, subject to me having the available time in my diary.
If you fail to show up at the appointed time and/or location the lesson fee in full must be paid.

If I wish to cancel/change a lesson:
I will do everything possible to ensure that your lessons start and finish on time, but reserve the right to cancel, postpone or change lesson lengths and start/finish times under certain conditions (e.g. dangerous weather conditions). I reserve the right to cancel a lesson at short notice if it is suspected that the pupil may be unfit due to the effects of alcohol, drugs (prescribed or otherwise) or any other condition that would cause his/her driving to be dangerous or illegal. In such circumstances, the lesson fee will be payable. If, for any reason, I am late for the lesson I will make a concerted effort to inform the pupil of the estimated time of arrival. If the delay is greater than 15 minutes the lesson will be free. If the delay is less than 15 minutes this time will be credited to the pupil and when possible the lesson will be extended by the time due – if this is not possible the extra time will be carried forward to the next suitable lesson.

4. Money Back Guarantee:

I’m confident you will enjoy your learning experience but, should you not be completely satisfied, the lesson fee will be refunded upon request. The request should be made at the end of the lesson and the refund will only apply to the lesson being given that day.

5. Payments for recommendations:

Pupils will receive cash to spend as they wish or lesson discounts as a ‘thank you’ for recommending their friends or family to learn with me. This will be paid when the new pupil has completed five hours of lessons with me.

6. Training location:

All lessons will start and finish at the same location unless alternative arrangements are made in advance. I will determine a location for practical lessons which ensures both the pupil’s and public safety – this means that I may need to drive the pupil to and from the lesson location; this journey time forms part of the lesson as paid for.

7. Training vehicles:

The training vehicle provided will be taxed and insured for the purposes of driving tuition, fully roadworthy and fitted with dual controls.
Pupils who require tuition in their own vehicles must supply evidence from their motor insurer that the car is covered for lessons when being supervised by a professional instructor in return for payment; the car must also be taxed and hold a current MOT certificate where appropriate.

8. Driving tests and bookings:

I reserve the right to refuse use of a driving school vehicle for test if I consider that the provision of a vehicle could cause a risk to public safety.
Where a school car is used for test, the booking must be made using my instructor reference number to fit in with my normal diary schedule. Depending on the time of the test this will require a minimum two hour booking and possibly longer (if the pupil or I consider that the pupil would benefit from additional pre-test tuition). Payment will be required at the normal rate for the minimum two hour period on test day.
While I will make every effort that the vehicle supplied for test will be fully roadworthy and comply with all legal requirements at the start of the test, I cannot be held responsible for vehicle failure that occurs during the test and am not liable for consequential loss. I will not be liable for any failure of lights during any test, since these will have been checked by the candidate and me together on arrival at the test centre.
I cannot be held responsible for test appointments cancelled by the DSA due to bad weather, sickness, staff shortage, or other reasons. Such cancellations are beyond my control and therefore the lesson fee and ‘use of car’ fee for the booked period will be charged. I will advise you about claiming compensation from the DSA.

9. Code of Conduct:

I agree to abide by the conditions of the Professional Code of Conduct (a copy of which can be provided on request). In the unlikely event of complaint or dispute the guidelines of the Code of Conduct will be adhered to.

10. Your rights:

These conditions do not affect any protection a student has under consumer legislation.
I reserve the right to change or alter any of the terms and conditions without notice, but will endeavour to inform pupils of any changes as soon as possible.

Acceptance:
A copy of these terms and conditions will be emailed to you when you book your first lesson. By accepting the offer of driving lessons, you are accepting to abide by these Terms and Conditions.
